LEARNING THEORIES
LEARNING THEORY CHART
I have decided to create another infographic to illustrate the four main theories that we have seen throughout the course. I wanted to present the theories through the different stages in a lifetime. Given that I did not have many figures or facts to rely on and the information that I wanted to convey was essentially text-based, I thought that applying some sort of storytelling techniques would help me make my message visually clearer and more entertaining. I also found the infographic on formal vs informal learning very useful and that is how I got the idea to personalise the information. I have also found my inspiration by watching The Beauty of Data Visualisation by David McCandless, one of my all-time TED favourites. The two other videos presented on this page offer very good tips on the do's and don'ts of data visualisation and infographics.
It took me around 4 hours to get it done (from A to Z, storyboard and design included), and it was quite challenging because I deliberately opted for a four-part template grid. There are flaws, some technical (the name bubble in the Andragogy section has been replicated twice, but does not appear so in the Canva workspace), but overall I am quite happy with the end result (at least, it works for me!).
Designing infographics has given me the opportunity to get the hang of it and to reflect on information retention through visuals. It is definitely something that I would like to dig deeper in the micro-learning activity.
